DJI O4 Air Unit

The DJI O4 Air Unit is a next-generation digital video transmission system designed for custom FPV drones. It combines a high-performance onboard camera with an ultra-low-latency video transmission module, giving pilots an immersive, smooth and precise flying experience close to what integrated DJI drones offer.

Designed for FPV drone builders, the O4 Air Unit integrates directly into custom frames and works with compatible DJI goggles like the DJI Goggles 3 and DJI Goggles N3. It forms the core of DJI's digital FPV system, replacing traditional analog solutions with stable, long-range HD video transmission.

The system features a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor capable of filming in 4K up to 60fps and 1080p up to 120fps, offering smooth, detailed footage suited for both cinematic flights and FPV freestyle. Video rendering is optimized for post-production thanks to support for profiles like D-Log M and a high bitrate of up to approximately 100–130 Mbps depending on the mode.

DJI O4 video transmission is one of the system's major strengths. It enables 1080p broadcasting with extremely low latency (approximately 20 to 24ms depending on the goggles and mode used), guaranteeing near-instant responsiveness between the pilot's movements and the displayed image. This is essential for fast, technical FPV flights.

The O4 Air Unit also offers a very extended transmission range, reaching up to approximately 10km under optimal conditions (FCC), while maintaining high signal stability thanks to intelligent frequency management (2.4GHz and 5.8GHz). This stability is particularly important in urban or forested environments.

The module is extremely compact and lightweight, with a modular design separating the camera, antenna and transmission module. This eases integration into drones of different sizes, from cinewhoops to more powerful racers.

The system also includes onboard recording to internal storage (up to a few gigabytes) and supports microSD cards up to 512GB, allowing captured video to be saved directly without relying solely on the feed sent to the goggles.

The DJI O4 Air Unit is optimized to work with DJI stabilization systems like RockSteady, as well as software stabilization solutions in post-production like Gyroflow, offering great flexibility for FPV content creators.
